I cannot fathom letting go
From the hold that I have made.
I cannot let myself imagine
What it is to fall.
But when it takes every single bit,
Every last drop of will,
And when my bones ache,
Skin rips,
Nerves burn,
Tendons scream . . .
My grip loosens.
